well, perhaps that's not a fair title to this blog. It's the best I could think of.
Ever since I posted my ...the best of the web blog I can't stop listening to Peter Nalitch.
Now, there are a few YouTubes of him, but, unless you speak Russian or read Cyrillic, it's kinda hard to find out much about him.
I think he's got a great voice, and something more - he's got that special quality I've spoken about before (Time for something beautiful,Chocolate Jesus, The Great IZ)- something more than simply playing music, but 'inhabiting it. These singers and musicians always make me smile when I'm feeling down.
So, back to Peter Nilitch. His song "Guitar" seems to have taken the net by storm, well in some parts of the net. It's what I posted before, I'll post it again:
But there's more if you look.. wanna shiver in your liver?
some soulful ones like this:
And...
and some pretty boppy ones:
And .. what? Russian rap??:
To the almost blues-ey:
Well. Maybe I've got weird taste in music, but I think he's great. He's cute, he's got a great voice and a great band... and, I believe, is only 'out there' live and on the 'net. If you like him, spread the word, he deserves to be known.
ff you want more check out his website:
Peter Nalitch. (and learn some Russian... but there are some English pages)
His YouTube account is here, there are several of the better videos on "two playlists":

Help

Very cool, Sandra. I had fun watching his videos (“Guitar” is so nutty!) He does have a good voice, and an endearing realness.
It's great to learn of other cultures. I see the passion in his works. Thanks for recommending him!!!
his videos are really goofy in a hilarious and endearing way, including the very peculiar English syntax and the heavy accent, and the side-splittingly funny dancing.
But on stage, singing in Russian, especially in the rich deep glory of his mid- to lower-range, he shines.
He doesn't just inhabit the music, he loses himself totally in it, a little like Carlos Santana.
I couldn't get enough, just had to keep listening until I had found all the Russian songs that are out there, like the totally infectious Drago, makes you want to sing it with him at the top of your lungs and find people to dance it with, arms draped around each other in a joyful line. Thank you so much, Sandra! What a find!
crow, ~Kes, Nicole, thanks for stopping by.
I couldn't (can't..) get enough either, Nicole…! for some reason that whole area just grips me (area of music) - the Georgians, the Bosnians…. (eg Jutros ) so wonderful.
I think (and I've heard from friends who have visited ) that music and singing is on the whole a much greater part of everyday life than in n.america etc.
I have one friend who went to Georgia, and said that singing was the way people expressed themselves in all kinds of situations… they were breaking out into song at any moment. And, what is more - no matter how you 'sounded' if you sang ( i.e. how awful) they loved it, because singing comes from the heart… I want to visit one day :-)
Oh, that sounds nice, Sandra. I want to visit one day, too.
i've heard that too. they know the truth about singing, wonderful!
I emailed Peter - (his personal email address is on his website) about a CD, and he wrote back (in sweet and perfect English) telling me there's one coming out in November :-)
ohhh, how nice! I'm glad : )
And some personal info I dug up: he's 26ish, an achitecture student now studying music at the Moscow music college - including opera ( his grandfather, from Bosnia, was apparently an opera singer). He played his first professional gig in November last year.
Just a note: you can download the CD tracks from the website: www.peternalitch.ru. It sometimes doesn’t load for me, but keep trying. It’s pay what you can, I think. (since I couldn’t get to the page he emailed them all to me and told me I needent pay, just appreciating the music was enough… )
