This is probably old hat to most people around here, but I only just got wind of it.
Google is doing something called "Project 10 to the 100th" This is a bit of what they say about it:
You can submit your idea (BY OCTOBER 20!), or vote. Here is a bit more from them:
Ideas anyone? If not, spread the details around to those who might have.

Google is doing something called "Project 10 to the 100th" This is a bit of what they say about it:
Project 10100 (pronounced "Project 10 to the 100th") is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible.
We're committing $10 million to implement these projects, and our goal is to help as many people as possible. So remember, money may provide a jump-start, but the idea is the thing.
You can submit your idea (BY OCTOBER 20!), or vote. Here is a bit more from them:
Categories:
- Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?
- Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families?
- Energy: How can we help move the world towards safe, clean, inexpensive energy?
- Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?
- Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?
- Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?
- Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?
- Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don't fit into any category at all.
Criteria:
- Reach: How many people would this idea affect?
- Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need?
- Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two?
- Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea?
- Longevity: How long will the idea's impact last?

Excellent idea to blog about this, Sandra! I'm actually pretty amazed that there isn't a lot more buzz around Gaia about this project, but doing a bit of searching (with this new Gaia interface), this post of yours is all I've been able to find.
Since the submission deadline in the 20th of this month, I suppose it's a little late to start up a discussion group specifically for Project 10 to the 100th (or “Project 10^100”), and kicking ideas around here on a blog post would be way too inefficient. Hmm… thinking about it some more, I'd actually give a pod a try, but I've already done my allotment of three pod cultivates….
Dunno. Maybe we could get people to host idea convos by category on separate blogs? So one person starts a blog post and related conversation on the “community” category, someone else on the “opportunity” category, and so on….
I'm off to post something in the Integral Pod to see if I can drum up some interest, and I'll refer people back here to your blog, Sandra. Let's see if we can't get some buzz going around this thing! I mean, after all, it's a project about changing the world, and isn't that what Gaia is supposed to be all about? ;)

OK, I've started a thread over on the “Changing the World” board of the Integral Pod here.
Let's see if we can't stir up some interest around here and get a community submission or two in. There's less than 3 weeks until the submission deadline people!

I've also linked back to this blog from my blog, but it's still apparently not enough to get face time on the “what's hot” lists. Although maybe it takes a few minutes.

Thanks Nicole, Grey! Yes, lets see if we can get the word out. I know there have to be people here with fab ideas but no finance…even if this blog or yours or the II thread gets 'hot' it might help spread the news.
I'm all out of world changing ideas myself (other than finding ways to tell people about this kind of thing!).
Yeah, that's funny. As I was falling asleep last night, I thought that Google may have already had one of the best ideas in just sponsoring the project. :)

The Team in blog and announcements is allatime talking about projects like this. Maybe let them know about it.
I am not aware of any super ideas except Pay it Forward, and that doesn't take funding !!! Except perhaps to promo the idea.
