An inspiring and deeply moving TED talk. Watch right through to the end, it is a full on experience that builds as Jill speaks: Jill Bolte Taylor: My stroke of insight
Here is the YouTube version, but it is worth going to the TED website as there is so much wonderful stuff there.
Jill Bolte Taylor: My stroke of insight
From TED:
"Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story of recovery and awareness -- of how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another. (Recorded February 2008 in Monterey, California. Duration: 18:44.)"

Sandra, Thank you so much for posting this…. I absolutely loved it, and it was one of the most beautiful descriptions of the experiences like the ones that I have had…..the trauma that pushed me indelibly into the right hemisphere was not a physical kind but the experience was the same…. this is one of the most lovely talks I have heard ever…love Jane
Hi, Sandra, thank you for this! What a gift her stroke has given us.
Thank you for posting this Sandra. Jill is a beacon of hope.
Jane, Balder, Snow Moon. Thank you.
Below is something that Paul Lowe, a dear ex-teacher of mine sent out recently. He mentions the talk. As he says, “She is not just saying the words, she is living the state.”
I wasn’t sure where to put the rest of what Paul says, but here is as good a place as any.
Love,
Sandra

The thing is this…
I feel it is no longer appropriate for me to support the old view of
reality. I have been in another stage of seeing reality for many years, and
I feel I have not had the receptivity to be able share it. I did what I
could, but it is not now appropriate.
There are many stages on the way, so my old talks may help some people to
get a glimpse of reality more clearly, but only if they really, really want
to – and are ready to stop holding on to old ideas. All of them.
Haven’t met many like that – and that is putting it mildly.
The time for the personal is finished. Finished.
My experience is that, almost everyone, does not want to know about their
maximum potential. They want to know what they think they want to to know –
so that it does not disturb them too much. Understandable eh, but not much
room for the undefined. We need to stop holding any ideas. All of them.
The truth does set us free but the process is quite an upheaval.
I feel that supporting the old illusion is not honest. I do understand the
idea of sharing whatever can be shared, as a stepping stone, but if it just
adds to the illusion, is that honest? Supports complacency.
This what I am attempting to share:
It is not only religion that has led us astray but our so-called
spiritual teaching as well. In fact, all teaching has led us astray from
ourselves – even in the rare cases that it was genuinely attempting to lead
us back to ourselves.
At the source the energy from the awakened ones was The Forceless Force.
Repeating the words without the actual experience, or even
worse, pretending and distorting the words, is misleading. To say the least.
The truth cannot be said.
Certain orders of the Sufis seem to be the most sincere – not teaching by
words, but by example.
A good experience of presence and source is Eckhart, and can be glimpsed on
the video of Jill Bolte Taylor.
She is not just saying the words, she is living the state.
If you are ready to stop holding the old you are not only having a reminder,
you are allowing yourself to realise that level of vibration in yourself. If
you are not allowing yourself to ready you will not have that experience.
To me the word Satsang is not beneficial to the Western mind. It has to go.
It is not our language/approach. It is not us. The way I see it is that we
are here to find ourselves, and our uniqueness, in our own way. Together.
And we are lazy. Very, very lazy. We think we can get it from others, yet
the ones that originally uttered the words said you cannot get it from
anyone else. It is not the words, it is the energy, and it is not to tell us
anything, it is remind of of what we already know, and have lost touch with.
When we really want to know, unconditionally, we will realise that we have
known all along.
To me it is not who is sharing, and not what they say, but what the hearer
does with what they are hearing. Are they ready to let go of their ideas?
All ideas? If not, they just modify the old illusion. Reality is not what we
see and think it is. At all.
Are the the so-called teachers living what they are sharing?
How many of our so-called teachers are living in The State?
Eckhart for sure.
When Eckhart Tolle speaks it is not what he is saying – many have said it
before, it is who is saying it. The lack of self-centeredness.
What he and Oprah are doing live on the web could bring about a major change
of consciousness on the planet. And maybe not – it is up to us.
To me, it is not who is saying the words, or even the words – for the truth
cannot be said, it is what we do with what we feel when we hear the words.
Do we respond, unconditionally, without thought, to what happens within us?
What I see is that it is time to let all of this so-called teaching go.
We do not need to be taught, we just need to wake up.
To what do we need to wake up?
To what the true sages have been telling us for thousands of years.
Please be clear about this. I am not talking about teachers. If someone
still thinks they can teach awakening then they themselves are still asleep.
You don’t teach a person to wake up, you just help them to see they are
asleep and accept that their way of living is not honest. Then they realise
they are awake already, but just did not want to let the old go.
And so on and so on. That sort of thing.

This is excellent Sandra – there is so much to learn. Thanks…
Just wanted to let everyone know that Jill was interviewed on Oprah. I haven't seen it ( the download media player link crashes my browser each time ) but I'm told it's great:
